C5 for Chemistry, my favourite subject, was really a huge setback. 3 Chem tests this year so far, and only one managed A1. 75 only. the other last term was 64. Dunno what's happenening to my Chemistry. In the latest test, which I got C5, I actually got 7 out of 10 MCQ wrong. Anyway, I've almost gotten over that. Almost. Anyway, word has it that there will be no exemptions for Sec 4s this year. So everyone's taking the exams for all subjects. Haha. Some people have never taken end of year exams for their past 3 years in HCI. Good luck to them, man.
What are exemptions? Well, my school has this scheme going on where those who have averaged a good score (I think it's A1) for the tests for a subjects get recommended for exemption. Then their respective subject teachers get to approve the exemption. I only got one exemption in the past 3 years. For Maths, last year. It was a great feeling, to leave early after the English paper leaving those who were unlucky enough not to be exempted behind to take the Maths exam.
Anyway, I almost forgot, this post is titled Things are looking up. Well, after that crappy C5-for-Chem setback, a string of marked tests came back. A Physics test and two Maths tests. I got 65% and 81% for the two Maths tests. Wasn't really satisfied with both the marks, especially the first one, and both of them average out to 73, giving an A2 for Maths this term. Hey, I've been slacking quite a lot for Maths. Guess I have to start working (harder).
Oh, what about Physics? Well, just yesterday, on Thursday, Mr Tieu, the Physics teacher gave us back our test papers. Before doing that, though, he quickly flipped through the stack of test papers, looking for failures (there were none). One of my classmates looked peeked from behind, and exclaimed "Wah, Zhe Xi! Full marks!". That really gave me a jolt. I replied, "Cannot be lah, where got full marks for Physics one?" Yong Jing (the one who peeked from behind) then said, "Dunno lah, either 35 or 25, not sure." The test is upon 35 marks, by the way. Anyway, my heart was racing like mad. I really hoped it was 35, not 25, 'cos 25 was only another A2 (Dunno why, I've been getting a lot of A2s for Physics). But it was very impossible to get full marks. I kept on hoping for 35, though. Sigh, when the teacher gives out the tests papers, and I hope for that kind of mark, it always never came true. (Especially for Chemistry.)
When it was my turn to get my paper, I was very calm. "Yong Jing saw it wrong totally, " I said to myself. I most probably got another A2. But there was still this hope. You see, the 17 people (I'm index no. 18) who got their paper back before me all had unusually high scores. So I wondered- Could I really have gotten full marks?
I got my paper- 33/35. It was sort of an anticlimax. I was really hoping for 35 ;). I was actually Dissapointed to get 33. lol. Then it hit me when I calculated the percentage for my score. 94%. Wow. I never got that high for a Physics test. This test more than made up for the other Physics test, which I got A2, making my Physics grade for this term A1! I can't remember getting A1 for Physics for a term! A1 for Physics... omg. Oh, yah, after this my classmates changed my nickname from "future chemist" to "future physicist" (No thanks to Song Jun). Dammit I hate either of them. But I'd prefer the former. I really like Chem... dunno what happened this past two terms...
Another thing, I went around the class yesterday to see if I got highest. I thought I did, and was in a state of delirium yesterday, but it turns out Khai Shin got 33 too. Anyway, I'm still top, just tied with someone.
Sigh, how I wish I got 94% for Chemistry instead...
Anyway, I got a non-fiction book last Sunday. Haven't read non-fiction much recently, except textbooks and notes, haha. "The Fabric Of The Cosmos". It's great, man. I'm no geek or nerd, but this book makes Einstein's theory of Relativity very interesting. That's not the only concept explained in the book, but that's the part I just read. Absolute SpaceTime- wow. Ok, I reiterate, I'm not geek or nerd.
Had the last test of the Term this year. Chinese. I forgot a few zao jus, but what the heck... I've never been very good with Chinese. Studying Chinese= Memorisation work for me.
Another week of lessons, and I'll be off to Perth for the School Annual Camp. Can't say I'm really excited about that, actually... Dunno why... hm... I'm excited about the plane ride, though. SQ! 5 hours with the entertainment system onboard the plane. Can't wait...
Wow, this was a long post... I guess I'll stop here. I don't wanna bore my readers, do I? lol, do I even have readers?
