So, the Chemistry exam is over. I guess I did ok, though I've discovered a very careless mistake already. I'm hoping for 90+. Is 90+ possible? Wonder if anyone managed that before...
Anyway, I'm very pleased with myself for one MCQ question. They showed a diagram of an inverted test tube placed halfway into a 'tub' of water. There was some substance- phosphorus- in the test tube. "1.0g of Phosphorus reacts with the oxygen in the testtube." Then they showed a graph of the amount of air against time. It dropped from 100 to 80%. Then the question gave four possible graphs and asked which one was correct when 4.0g of P is put in the testtube. Almost everyone chose the graph showing 100 to 20%. LOL. They forgot something. Air contains 20% by volume of Oxygen. haha. I chose the graph which still showed 100 to 80%. Yeah! It seems that very few people didn't get tricked by that question. I didn't.
But after feeling very good after the MCQ paper, I made a very stupid mistake in paper 2. A very, very stupid mistake. I don't think I'll ever forget this mistake. Aargh. Remember, there is NO SUCH THING as 1,2,2-trimethylethene. Sigh... dunno what I was thinking. I got tricked by that stupid diagram.
I forgot to see that two of the methyl could be part of a chain of 4 carbon. Dammit. And you know what made that mistake worse? I was checking my answers halfway, then the teacher said "time's up". I didn't manage to check all my answers, but that wasn't too bad, 'cos I think I did the questions quite carefully. But before I put my pen down, I spotted a mistake I made. The stupid trimethyl mistake. And you'd think I'd change it, would you. Well, I did. I quickly changed my answer, from "1,2-trimethylethene" to "1,2,2-trimethylethene". $%^&%^ AAARGGH. Even if there is a such thing as trimethylethene, it should be 1,1,2 - not 1,2,2! AAARGGGH. Felt very stupid after finding out that I'd named it wrongly. Dammit.
Oh well, at least that's only worth 1 mark.
Besides that %^&*# trimethylethene thingy, I only have one more regret- I couldn't remember the catalyst used in the catalytic converter in cars. Aargh. I spent so much time remembering the conditions for all the reactions related to Organic Chem, I forgot there were other reactions besides those Organic ones. That's another 1 mark gone. But hey, 98 isn't too bad. LOL. If I do manage to get that...
I'm still hoping for 80+ or 90+ for Chem. I hope I don't get dissapointed.
Maths paper 1 tomorrow. Gotta start practicing calculus now...
[EDIT] Woah. Got a shock just now. When I hit 'publish' for this post in blogger, It kept reloading a page saying 0% done. I was panicking, so I hit the back button, and what did I see in the edit post page? An empty screen! Wth. Luckily my post was there in the edit posts page. What probably happened was that my post was published, but the loading page got problem. Phew. Would I have retyped this long post if I really lost it? Dunno... I might've even boycotted Blogger if that really happened. It better never...
