Well. I haven't blogged in a while. Somehow I feel like I'm blogging this just for the sake of blogging. I actually wanted to blog yesterday, after the NTU "Cantemus 2006", but then I was quite tired when I got back home, at around 11pm.
Went to have my eyes checked yesterday afternoon. I've always been boasting about my perfect eye-sight. Sigh. Well, now I can't. I can only say I've got near-perfect eyesight, haha. Apparently both my eyes are "50 degrees". Hm... And I've got a little astigmatism. Too much computer usage, they say. Anyway, I never knew what the "degrees" were referring to. 50 isn't that bad right? I'd better do more (self) eye-massages. I've sort of continued doing the 眼保健操 that we always did back in NYPS. Unorthodox? Well, I think it works. Genes alone can't really guarantee perfect (or near-perfect) eyesight right? Can it?
We were planning to have a choir batch dinner (meaning year ones) before the NTU thing. In the end, it was more like half-batch-plus-three-extra-seniors. Oh well. Ended up at burger king, cos there wasn't enough space at soup spoon. I wasn't complaining- hadn't eaten at burger king in a while. The chicken whopper was still as good as I remembered it.
Rushed off to Victoria Concert Hall after that, to get "good" seats. It was really funny to see the 'distance-gap' which appeared after a while between us guys (which weren't very many actually), and the girls on the way to VCH. We just walk faster I guess. But yeah ok, I know, some girls can walk very fast.
I suddenly remembered that I'd been to VCH before. So many years ago, I was in NYPS choir. We went there for SYF. I didn't know that it was called VCH then, lol. But I still remembered the place- the entrance, the fancy "gates" thingy, and especially the corridor next to the hall. Brought back some memories. Anyway, I think before yesterday, I'd only been to VCH once. So I've been on stage once and in the audience once. Come May, it'll be another time on the stage.
Most of us were seated at the higher level (is there a name for it? [edit: circle seats! now how did I not know that...]), in the centre block. I dunno why they were saying stuff like, "sit centre, the sound better". Um, is there really such a big difference? Wth. Maybe I just don't have experience, haha. That's probably why I find it weird that some keep saying the esplanade acoustics "suck". Hm...
Well, the NTU choir was quite good, athough even I could hear some mistakes here and there. At least I got to hear quite a few songs that we at HC are currently singing. I was almost singing along with the choir when they were performing Double-Toil and Binnamma! Almost, haha. Oh man, I've gotta perfect the actions for binnamma. Just learnt it on Friday. Basses' actions are the most fun, haha. We have to do this shoulder "shaking" thing during what is, imo, the most "high" part of the song:
"Kum-bina kum-bina kum-bina kum-bina, kum kum kum kum kum kum-kum-bina kum-bina kum-bina kum-bina..." *getting high*. Ok maybe it doesn't seem that great. But with the other 3 sections together (they're singing-bass is the only one chanting the whole time for that part), it just sounds great!
There was a musical after the interlude. The story wasn't too bad. But the singing was quite awful. And I couldn't really hear the people speaking. Oh well. We came to hear the choir perform songs, not perform a musical anw.
It was quite a fun night. Although I can't help feeling I sort of got dao-ed by someone, haha. Not totally, but sort of. Maybe it was just a busy day.
Oh oh! Almost forgot to blog about this- I went to Applecentre at Orchard again today. The last week I brought my $50 voucher along, but they insisted that I had to present my IC. So today I brought my student pass (not my IC- to show "defiance", lol). I wanted to get some accessory for my iPod, but EVERYTHING was so expensive. I remember there were a few items that were around 50 last time, but with the introductino of the new ipods, they stopped stocking those old accessories. So I ended up buying.......
