One day left to the holidays. I haven't made full use of this holidays to prepare for the exams, both Piano and school. My Maths is really, really out of touch. I can't remember how to do a lot of things. Found that out while trying to do a specimen paper today. Aargh.
Piano exam in 5 days only! I still make some mistakes here and there for my exam pieces. Don't think I'll be able to play them perfectly during the exam. Come to think of it, I don't remember ever playing my exam pieces without a single mistake in my past 5 piano exams, except maybe Grade 1 or 2, which I have not much memory of. I remember playing like shit for my Grade 5 exam last year. I stopped halfway when playing D major. D. Major. Wth. I remember that moment. The examiner asked me to play D major, so I happily started playing. My fingers were playing already, but my mind was still stuck. Halfway through the scales, I suddenly thought, "er, what am I doing? oh, yah, playing D major scale." But it was too late. I suddenly stopped. Luckily I managed to recover in less than a second's time and continue playing. I also stopped a few time during the 3 exam pieces. Haha, but I managed a Merit, (127/150). 3 points away from distinction. That was very lucky. I got a good examiner.
But I can't always be that lucky. Who knows, the examiner I get this year may be some super-pissed off guy. lol. Anyway, I"m just hoping for a high pass. Maybe a merit. A distinction will be good, though. I never got distinction for the practical exams before. I also never failed before- hope this won't be a first. A first for failing, I meant. I don't mind the distinction ;)
Anyway, gotta stop blogging now. I hafta go to the exam studio today to practice on the piano. Unlike most other musical instruments, I can't carry my piano around, obviously. So piano exam candidates usually have to book a practice session to get a feel of the piano before the actual exam. And that's when those studios can make a killing. 30 bucks for one hour! What the hell. But I have no choice. I don't wanna get shocked by some piano with super weird keys and sound.
