I dunno how to start. I don't even feel like writing this post. No, not 'cos it was a lousy day. It was a great day. Just that I'm writing this post a day later. Can't remember everything. And I'm still brimming with excitement over today (see the next post), lol.
Hm... ok... oh, right. It started with the first combined assembly of the year. I was almost late. I must have just missed the bus, so at 7am I was still waiting at the bus stop. Luckily (or what seemed to be 'luckily') my dad just came back from sending my brother to school, so he saw me at the busstop and decided to send me. I forgot how bad the jam was at the Bukit Timah area after 7am, 'cos I usually reach school by 7. Anyway, my dad got quite frustrated, and so he asked me to walk from the SPC petrol station to school. "Faster than car". Well, I can't say walking was faster, but I wasn't really keeping track of which car was beside me. I was just thinking of what happened if I were late. I have a clean sheet to maintain, you know...
So I reached school, met up with some classmates then headed for the terraces. The band was quite soft. Of course, we were standing quite far. But I couldn't really hear the announcements. There were two speaker stands, but because both of them were placed very far apart, and one them was much further away than the other, the echo was really strong. Oh well. Not that we usually listen to the announcements anyway, lol.
After the morning assembly we had the briefing for the "Amazing Race". They really put a lot of effort into it, those councillors. They even replicated the yellow Amazing Race envelopes! Though the boxes that contained the clues to the next location were empty Hello Panda bisuit boxes, lol. "Sponsor for the Amazing Race". Wth. But it was quite a lot of fun, except for the fact that at our very first location, we couldn't find the clue slip meant for our class! That was the only problem, and it was solved really fast. I must say, the "clues/questions" were really ingenious. Like the one where they showed a picture of frogs, lizards and a picture of the esplanade. I was really stumped. But one of our classmates (forgot who) managed to solve it really quickly. "Amphitheater!". Woah. I'd never have thought of that. So anyway, most of the "locations" were just boxes with clues in it, though at some we had "road blocks" and "detours", and had to play a game to proceed.
Hm.. trying to remember all the games.... Ok, the first one was "dunno-what-it's-called". Well, we had to form two rows, and one of us had to run through, blindfolded, and another blindfolded person at the other end has to 'sense' the runner and shout stop before he/she runs out of the 'safe zone' which is a small area just outside of the two rows. Maybe this doesn't make sense... Ah, whatever, I still have lots to write about in half an hour!
Next: "dunno-what-it's-called-2". Two rows again, each pair holding one of those black rubbish bags, using it to pass water bombs until the last pair, which passes it to a batter, who uses the bat to hit the balloon. Have to hit 20 water bombs. Zhiyong, Isaac, and I alternated. They hit most of the water bombs though. My batting was rusty. Can't blame me... I skipped two months of holiday training. Playing that game really made me reconsider quitting softball... Sigh... still unsure.
Third (and I think final game. Can't remember. Aargh.): "dunno-what-it's-called-3". So complicated. Gonna keep it simple. Basically, we gotta slide water bombs on a slippery(soapy) table, making sure we don't over-slide (it'll drop on the two people who are lying prone in front of the table. Then one of us has to toss the water bombs into a bucket, which is connected to a pulley, with a half-filled bucket on the other side. Obviously, we have to keep repeating the procedure until the the bucket is heavier than the other one and sinks. Quite fun... We alternated roles. Sort of, anyway. Only a few of us lay prone in front of the table, haha. After the game ended, we started throwing the remaining water bombs at each other. The game IC got pissed, and started shouted at us. His face was really black man. I really wanted to say "Relax lah!". But I suppose there was a valid reason. They need to recycle the water bombs that didn't break.
What was next? Hm.. after the Amazing Race, we had a quick debrief (dunno which class won), and went for lunch. Class lunch at high school side canteen! GREEN PLATE! The uncle still recognised me, haha. Still the same great food.
OH ya! There was another game for the Amazing Race! The "guess-the-song-game". One of us had to sing to the songs being played on an iPod, and the rest of us had to guess. I thought I'd be able to help quite a bit... but they played mostly pop songs. I did manage to guess one song though. "I Dream" by taufik batisah. Oh, man... of all the songs I had to guess, I guess that one. Wth. Well, at least I helped a bit.
Getting tired. Gonna leave the second part of this post to the next day (Wednesday). Hopefully I can still remember all that's happened.
btw, if you didn't already know, this post was about Monday, the day before the day this post was written.
