It's been a long day.
Started with some brief talks. The first one was a "sharing session" by one of the deputy principals. He didn't really seem like a deputy principal at all. He came across as more of an admin staff. One of those small-timers, haha. Apparently he's an alumni. And his grades weren't that good. ABCD for A levels, lol. Hm... I can't seem to remember his name! Oops...
After that was a short talk about some Science research opportunities. Gotta get into one of those programmes...
Then the Hexathlon began. Six different games. All competitive ones... we're pitted against another OG. Different one each time, of course. The games ICs must have took a lot of time to plan- there are almost 40 OGs! We played "Street Fighter" first, at the volleyball courts. It's basically just one person from each team at a time, both blindfolded, trying to hit the other person's head with a balloon stick, or hit the other person with a water bomb. The rest of the OG members give directions, of course. I was one of the 15 "fighters" in my group, but I didn't get to don my blindfold and play, 'cos of time constraints. Oh well... it was fun watching them "fight" too.
Next we went to the tennis courts for dodgeball (won't be explaining the rules, pretty simple). When I heard "dodgeball" I was kinda expecting around 3-5 balls, but it turned out there was only one. And it was small, very light and squishy. Not easy to catch and throw. I thought I'd have an edge, as I've played 4 years of softball. But somehow my 'skills' didn't show. I tried to throw the ball hard and fast at the opposing team people, but all my throws ended up with the ball immediately hitting the ground. Maybe it's the ball. Or maybe it's cos I haven't trained in months, haha. I did managed to hit someone though.
After dodgeball, we headed back to the hall for chapteh. Finally something I had played before. There was a net though. And some extra rules. A girl has to touch the chapteh before it can be kicked over, and girls get to use their hands. Even using their hands, though, they weren't any good, haha. I didn't really get to touch the chapteh much too... Too many people in the court at one time...
After 3 events, we had a lunch break, and then gathered back at the hall. It was raining during the break, so while the councillors were drying the tennis and volleyball courts, they added an extra slot of dancing. Aargh. Almost all of us had forgotten the moves for the couple one. We remembered most of one of the other 'solo' ones though. So it was pretty synchronised. But the couple one, haha, there were a couple of difficults steps which I'm quite sure almost everyone couldn't remember. So when the demonstrators did some nifty switching move, we just changed places, lol. Mass confusion. That was fun...
Then it turned out we weren't behind schedule after all, and our OG proceeded to the volleyball courts again to play Quidditch. They shouldn't really call it "Quidditch". It's totally NOT like Quidditch. Except for the three hoops. Teams of eight "chasers" are supposed to throw the frisbee into one of the three hoops. It's easier than it sounds. In the end none of us managed to get the frisbee into the hoop. Oh, and there were also 5 "beaters" on each team. I was one of them. We get to throw water balloons. When the balloon hits an opposing team member who's holding the frisbee, possession goes over to the other team. No "seekers" though, lol. Anyway, the game ICs made both our groups compete in cheering, in order to decide who won. I could've sworn our group cheered louder. But the other group won. One of the game IC was the OG leader of the other group, haha. I'm not implying anything...
We were gonna go the the next venue for the next game when it started drizzling. And they called everything off. All assembled back at the hall. So our group didn't get to play Cabbage Captain's ball (self-explanatory), and Twin Soccer(normal soccer, just that everyone's tied to another person. Or so I heard...).
Did a little cheering, and then each OG gathered for the last time (tomorrow we know our classes already!) with the OG leader. Our leader gave us each a piece of paper. We first wrote our own names on the piece of paper, then passed it around. Then other people would write something 'nice' for that person on the piece of paper. It was really difficult to think of something to write! I barely knew anyone. Only 3 days! I just tried write some crap. A couple of people wrote Happy New Year, wth. We didn't have time to finish. The passing of pieces of paper only went about halfway. The girls took longer to write, haha. Us guys just kept writing and passing, really quick. So my paper was half-done. Oh well.
We went back for prize presentations (wonder how they decided which group won...), and then we were finally dismissed.
