Another long day. I must apologise in advance for what is gonna be a very boring post, not 'cos the day was boring, but cos I don't have time to write in a 'less boring' way. I just wanna record everything down first. Maybe it'll be edited. Maybe. Don't get your hopes up though. Just look at the profile page of this blog >>
Well, the day started with quite a few talks. Can't really remember most already. Something about "Student Development" And then another one about CCAs. Nothing much. We used the break time after that to reherse again.
Next was History of Hwa Chong. I though it'd be realyl boring. But it turned out to be quite interesting. Well, probably 'cos most of the time was spent watching the 30th anniversary video of Hwa Chong JC. And then the speaker, some school staff and also an alumnus, showed us a lot of pictures while talking. Much better than the History of the School talks we had in the high school.
Sexuality Education next. All along I knew it was gonna be about BGR. But then when I heard some people talking about it, I realised that "Sexuality" was more accurately referring to one's sexuality (ie whether you're gay or not)! So on the way to the auditorium (Boys in audi, girls in LT3.) I was wondering, could it really be about being gay? lol. As it turned out, the talk was really about relationships- the boy girl kind, not boy boy or girl girl, haha.
We had a quick lunch, then rehersed again. The skit's coming along quite well. And I think my current role suits me. Just talking. No action. Yay. Finally long holding the class back in the skit.
"The more things change, the more they stay the same." Dunno who said that. But it's becoming quite true in school. We're in JC already, but today we did a lot of really "pri school" stuff! Like passing messages during the talk, playing sissors paper stone (for fun, not just to decide anything), and the most childish of all- calculating two people's compatibility with each other! Not gonna elaborate, but it's mainly just using the two names and counting vowels. Wth. They started using my name with another classmate's (no, not gonna say who). 68%. Aargh. So I was really eager to find a higher percentage. After many failed attemps (all less than 50!), I found 85! Zhiyong's name, haha. He got really pissed, and tried paring my name with others to find yet another higher percentage.. He succeeded. But luckily, something more important came up and no one found out. Phew.
So anyway, we had a few hours with hour faculty, Artemis. It was quite fun. We played this "bidding" game. Each class started out with 1000 "dollars", which we could use to bid on stuff which the faculty ex-co members described. We weren't allowed to see the items beforehand. They gave out some pretty crappy stuff, like plastic cups and tissue. But the rest was mostly food. Our class started the ball rolling by bidding for the first item, which turned out to be "Zoo land" biscuits. Wth. They completely threw us off when they described it as "coming from the zoo", haha. They added some question time in the auction. Correct answer earned the group points. And then the fac head, being the crazy guy he was (he's a student, btw), decided to award 1000 to the most class with the most spirit. That was when everything went wild. Many classes started cheering. But our class was the most pro, haha. The whole class got onto the stage to do our cheer!
Unfortunately, the EC (teacher-in-charge of the faculty) chose another class. Apparently one crazy girl from that class kept harrasing her. She even stood on a table! Wth. We got 700 points instead for being second. Then came the last two items for auction. One of the ex-co members was from our senior class. She hinted to us that we should bid for the last item. So we did. Combined with another class (cos even though we had the most points at that point, other classes were combining too). And we got it. A large packet of soya bean milk, 10 lollipops, and a packet of prawn crackers. Not too bad.. compared to the other auctioned items.
The last part of the "official oreintation day" was the learning of the faculty dance. It's even more crappy than the school mass dances. And very fast. Not as hard as the mass dances, but not as nice, I think. After one and a half hour though, we only managed to cover "a quarter" of the dance. Luckily we didn't have to stay back to finish the rest. I think we've gotta learn it soon, some other time though. I don't like the dance. Maybe it's just me. I don't really like dancing... Oh, and although we were the only class with 1:1 guys to girls ratio, our class was the only class where guys paired up with guys and girls paired up with girls! Haha!
After the fac dance, we were dismissed, but our class continued rehersing the skit. Until quite late. Then the 'director' (lol) wanted to focus on individuals scenes one at a time, so the rest of us started telling lame jokes and playing some 'magic' tricks to occupy the time. And then we ended up playing murderer. The squeeze-hand version. I previously only played the blink-eye one. Didn't get to be murderer or detective though... We also played Molester and Polar Bear, lol. Exactly like murderer.
It was quite late already... but I decided to just go for the class dinner. Only 8 of us went though. Food Republic in Wisma Atria. Ate at 8.30. I was really hungry then. Usually eat at 6plus... And what's more, I had lunch in school at 11am today!
Oops, 11.34pm already. Gotta go sleep. War Games tomorrow! Artemis must win! And we're gonna perform our class skit tomorrow! Can't wait!
