And so the third day of the March holidays is almost over. I know I've mentioned it before, but I only really just realised that for the first time in 5 years, my March hols are gonna be free. No, not free as in I get to stay at home and play and (maybe) do work, but free as in I don't have to go for the SRC Softball tournament!
That really took up my whole March holiday every year, since Sec 1. The matches themselves were held during the two weekends, but we still trained during the weekdays. Then we always ended up spending the whole day at the SRC/padang during tournament days. My March hols always passed by really quickly. It was just tournament, training, a few days of break, and suddenly boom! Aaagh- Term 2!
Of course, the March hols are only a week long. But at least now I sort of get the weekends and some extra weekdays free. There's a choir workshop on Wednesday, but it's only half-day, and I'm looking forward to it anyway.
My March hols so far started with a bang though. Whole day out last saturday! Well, whole day out if you don't count the half-and-hour I spent at home before going out again. Went to the St Nicks, erm "fiesta" (funfair). St Nicks is big. Really big. I didn't know that. But, considering they have a primary school section also.... Chinese High was bigger. Now HCI even bigger. Ha. Anyway I can't say the funfair was very fun, haha. Really hot day. I was sweating like mad, until the later part of the day. But maybe that's cos I was in an air-con room haha. I wanted to ration my 10 dollar's worth of coupons, so I was quite reluctant to buy anything or play anything. In the end I almost didn't spend 6 bucks! So I quickly got two plates of waffles and a cup of grass jelly. Some lunch...lol
I only remember ever going to one other funfair before. It was held at some school. And it wasn't even half as crowded or noisy (really loud music) as the St Nicks one. I guess they really know how to organise funfairs....
So after spending quite a long time (and not very much money haha) at the funfair, I decided to go home for a while before heading out to meet my classmates for dinner before 黄城夜韵. When I left the house and took the bus, the ez-link reader showed "transit". lol.
I didn't really know what to expect for huang cheng. I knew it was some drama production, and that it was really big in my school, but that's all. But cos of my over-enthusiastic assistant CT-rep, most of us ended up buying tickets. And not just any ticket, but the most expensive $15 one! Oh well. It was worth it. The show was quite good. It was actually three different plays. Not bad. I shan't describe the plays here.... Or should I? It'll take very long haha.
Fine... I think I'll just describe the plays:
The first one was about this girl, who's dead, trying to get her sister and brother (who went missing from the same car crash the girl died in) back together again, with the help of this, um funny "angel/omnipotent-being". Apparenly the brother lost his memory, and the reckless driver took him as her own. Eventually the brother regained his memory, of course, and that driver got her just desserts. I think. Hm... I forgot what happened to her. Oh well. I quite liked this play. The "angel" was really funny.
I didn't really like the second play. It was not bad, but I just don't like broken family stories. They made it so sad. I think there wasn't a single funny moment in the play. There wasn't, but we still laughed at some parts anyway, haha. The play was mainly about this woman, who had gone through several marriages, raising three children on her own. The children each had their own problems. Hm... haha I can't seem to remember how it ended. Probably some happy ending. Or was it a cliffhanger? Oh well. The 'prologue' and 'epilogue' were quite nicely put together though. They started with a whole lot of "jiu" (pinyin) projected on the screen, and then they ended with the actual words, which were part of sentences of a poem summing the whole story up.
The third one's starting was a little weird. Some 'dance' sequence with a chinese chess backdrop. If I'm not wrong, the whole play was about two rival companies. That's just about it. I liked how they painted some red pattern the faces of the members of one side and some green pattern on the faces of the other. Symbolic? Anyway, I think I didn't really get some of the more "cheem" connations throughout the play. I didn't get what the whole thing about this big slab of rock with a lot of red words (at the backdrop the whole time) was. That really bummed me out. But I still got most of the story. Actually for the other two plays I also had to pay very close attention to what they were saying haha. My chinese not that pro. But I was very pleased with myself- apart from that rock, I think I managed to understand everything! Yay.
It was really not bad on the whole... I felt really sleepy towards the end though. Luckily the "ending credits" part was really quick. Saw a lot of my classmates on stage during the "谢幕"。Headed straight home after that. Tired.
Well that was Saturday. Sunday and Monday (today) were really boring though. Spent almost the whole day home (besides going out for lunch) on Sunday, and I've been home the whole day today. Not only have I been home for the most part of the day, I haven't really done anything. Nothing. I didn't do work, I didn't really play. I just slacked around, watching my brother play PS, practising a bit of piano, walking around the house, reading a bit of Outbound Flight (new SW novel!). I suppose that's how holidays are meant to be spent. But somehow I feel like I could be doing a lot of other stuff. Hm...
