Today was one of the best school days I've had. I came to school as per normal, reached at 6.50, and attended flag raising at 7.25. What made today different though, was that I, along with 60-odd others, was dismissed at..... EIGHT AM! That meant no lessons haha. Why? Choir performance today. It was supposed to be at 4plus initially. Then just last Monday they changed it to 12.15. So we had to skip the whole day of lessons! I suppose I shouldn't have been too enthusiastic about missing lessons. I missed Econs and Maths lecture, and Maths tutorial. PW today was crap, I heard, so not counted. Got little bit of catching up to do.
Anyway, it was a really fun day today! Just nothing but choir the whole day! I had a bit of problems singing during the warm-ups though, cos of my cough. My sore throat decided to become a fully-fledged cough (the cough-like-mad kind) today. With a bit of effort I managed to hold the cough back, but during warm-ups my voice was really shaky and I sang quite out of tune for the higher notes. Sigh... what I time to get sick. But I sang normally during the actual performance I think. Maybe it was the adrenaline. Or maybe I was just warmed up.
Looking back on today, it was quite packed actually, even though the only thing today was the performance. I knew the whole thing was organised by the Singapore Police Force for some foreign delegates, but it was only today that I realised who we were performing for- representative from Interpol (international police)! And actually "performance" is sort of an overstatement. It was more of just some "entertainment" for those people from Interpol who were having a lunch break from some meeting about something. But it was still important for us. First time the Year 1s and 2s performed together!
We did quite well I think. For the first two songs. Ye Lai Xiang and Elijah Rock. The third was... haha. messy. Binnamma. Us basses misread Miss Lim's actions. She gave this low hand signal. Then we (including me) thought it was to cue us in for our octave-drop part . So we started singing that part. And that made us two bars ealier. Luckily there were distinct sections to the song, so we could quickly get back to what we were actually supposed to sing. The later part was quite ok though. The actions helped. I still didn't manage to get the note for the last part. Aargh. Oh well.
We went back to school at close to two pm. Had lunch (ramly burger for me. It's not as nice as the first few times I had it though. The novelty's wearing off), and then we went to the AVT for a "photoshoot". It wasn't really what I thought it was. I thought we got some outside photographer to take" professional photos of us" Lol. Turned out it was just two students from the school photography club I think. The photos are for the pamphlet for our performance on May 21, if I'm not wrong. Aspiration - Voices in Flight. The performance. The big one. I can't wait for it!
I actually went home in my long-sleeved white shirt (we wore that with school pants, tie and blazer for the performance). The shirt's quite comfortable haha. It was my dad's. Now he's given it to me. My very own white long-sleeved shirt. Didn't bother to change. I couldn't wait to get home anyway.
Got back at 4 plus. Not that early, but considering the fact that usually on Wednesdays I've got choir until 6plus, it's quite early. Didn't do any work though. Oops. Better get on with my bio tutorial now. Cos it's due tomorrow. Now ain't this last minute...
